2. Idea Finding
- Start by answering the question: Does man belong to the earth or Does the earth belong to man? Why?
- How might you go about representing your opinion? What sort of images come to mind?
- Make a list of all the natural things you can think of...clouds to seeds
- Make a list of all the man made things from screws to boats
- Create a simple mind map using free association and borrowed ideas
- Refine your list
3. Make a Decision
- Choose which images or symbols have the greatest resonance within you.

- Begin looking for references that are related to your subject matter.
- Begin looking for references that are related to your artistic style.
5. Refine your References
- Choose the references that you will use in your work, and print or make them easily accessible
