Hard edge painting technique
In reaction to the abstract expressionism movement, some artists started to create work with absolutely no expression except for the use of color and shape. This type of painting with it's colors bumping up against another color is called hard edge painting.
1. Using a protractor, frame or shape, trace the shapes multiple times to create a complicated new pattern. You may overlap, rotate, repeat and weave.
2. Apply Tape to straight lines if you wish
3. Paint with a color scheme using one color to base your choices on.
4. Use the hard edge technique to master your use of the brush and color consistency.
